Step 1

Install Client Control

In order to communicate with this NETePay, your POS may use one of the following ActiveX controls depending on the integration method chosen by the POS developer. If you are unsure of which to install please contact POS technical support.

  1. Support was added for the PAX A6650 device.

  2. PAX EMV Configurations for Credit with Preferred Debit is modified setting the contactless CVM limit to zero for all Debit AIDs. This will result in PAX devices prompting for an Online PIN for all contactless Debit transactions. 

  3. For all Ingenico devices, PIN Bypass is now disabled for contactless transactions for Amex, Mastercard and UnionPay. Bypassing the PIN causes a cryptogram validation error because of a change to the TVR. 

  4. For IDTech NEO2 devices (VP6800 and VP6300) the firmware version check is removed. Different models have different firmware versions.

  • An EMV certification was completed for PAX devices. EMV Contact and Contactless were certified for all card brands. PAX currently does not support contactless for JCB and UnionPay cards. The certification was completed with Voltage PAN encryption. The TSYS Version ID sent in the <A42> tag is “H521” for this version of NETePay.

  • A change is made for EBT to return both the Food stamp and Cash balances when both are returned in the response from TSYS. Example balance response tags for an EBT Cash transaction include: 
    • <Balance>1234.56</Balance>
    • <FoodBalance>6543.21</FoodBalance>
    • <CashBalance>1234.56</CashBalance>

  • For eCommerce merchants, the <A32> tag to indicate an eCommerce transaction is now sent on all Voids.

  • An EMV certification was completed for the IDTech VP3300 device. Contactless support was certified for this project. All certification testing used a clear IDTech device. IDTech does not support Voltage TEP2 which is typically used when certifying new devices to TSYS.

  • A change is made to send “000” in the amount field for EBT Balance inquiry transactions. This change is required because TSYS introduced a bug for Balance transactions. We have since learned that TSYS will be fixing the bug by 4/16/21 which will allow older versions of TSYS NETePay to successfully process EBT Balance Inquiry transactions.

  • This version is built with the latest Store & Forward library (8.20). Version 8.20 includes a fix for Incremental Auth transactions when interwoven with multiple transaction sequences of PreAuth, Incremental Auth, Partial Reveral and PreAuthCapture. Each sequence is now forwarded in order, regardless of how the transactions were stored originally.

  • An EMV certification was completed with the Verifone P400 PIN pad. All card brands were certified supporting contact and contactless. All certification testing used a P400 with a Datacap TDES DUKPT PAN key with transactions routed through the TSYS MM NETePay running in Test at Azure. dsiEMVUS does not support a P400 device with clear card data. Verifone does not support Voltage TEP2 which is typically used when certifying new devices to TSYS. In this case, the P400 must be used in the NETePay Hosted environment when sending transactions to TSYS.

  • Card On File functionality is supported at this version. This application does support the eCommerce merchant category.

  • Debit Only EMV Support is added at this version. This is for the Cannabis market. The implementation is identical to First Data Rapid Connect where Debit Only is also an option.

  • For Purchase Card Level 2, Tax options of “NoTax” and “Exempt” are now supported. Previously, only a non-zero tax amount was supported for Purchase Card level 2.

  • TSYS Host-Based Multi-Merchant is also available for use on the NETePay Hosted gateway.

  • Support is added for EMV PreAuth, PreAuth and PreAuthCaptureByRecordNo. For a PreAuth, TSYS is sent a purchase transaction with a “HOLD”. If a merchant is a “hold capture participant” then NETaPay can include a “HOLD” tag in the authorization request. Including this authorization tag prevents the transaction from being captured and settled. For PreAuthCaptureByRecordNo, an adjustment transaction with the Reference Number is sent to TSYS with a “CAPTURE”. This will cause the held authorization to be released and will be captured during the next batch close. Note: If a merchant is not a “hold capture participant” and a “HOLD” tag is sent to TSYS, the host will reject the transaction and respond with “Not Allowed”.

    If an Incremental Auth or Partial Reversal has been run following a PreAuth, then the amount captured must be exactly the final authorized amount. The final capture cannot have an additional TIP added or the purchase amount reduced.

    Following the initial PreAuth, a TIP can be added to the capture. Also, following the initial PreAuth, a lesser purchase amount can be captured as long the <OriginalAuthorized> amount is sent with the capture.

    The Batch Summary and Batch Close responses from TSYS reflect totals of transactions authorized, not settled. If a transaction is captured in a subsequent batch (the “HOLD” is removed), then the totals returned by the Batch Summary and Batch Close will not match the amount settled. If all transactions are captured prior to the Batch Close, then the totals returned by the Batch Summary and Batch Close will match the amount settled.

  • The latest Store and Forward library is released with this version. Version 5.0 library prevents storing a transaction offline while an SAF_ForwardAll is in progress.

  • An EMV card brand certification was completed for Ingenico Tetra devices. These include the Lane/3000, 5000, 7000 and 8000. It also includes the Move/3500, Move/5000 and Link/2500. The latest client controls (dsiPDCX and dsiEMVUS) support these devices with clear card data and with Ingenico Voltage card data encryption.

  • The EMV Support parameter now includes a choice for “Credit and Debit – Prefer Debit”. This feature pertains to Ingenico device. If a card is inserted that includes a US Common Debit AID, that AID is preferred over any other AID on the card and is used for the transaction. The card would typically require a valid PIN for an approval.

  • Support is added for “81” China Union Pay cards. The latest BIN range for China Union Pay cards is used at this version.

  • Support is add for EMV contactless for Ingenico devices.

  • Support is added for Incremental Authorization and Partial Reversal. The normal flow for a bar tab using these transactions would be to start with a PreAuth, then perform one or more Incremental Authorizations and finally perform one Partial Reversal so that the exact amount authorized is settled. The final step would be to perform a PreAuthCapture for the settlement amount. This would be the flow for Worldpay IP (Mercury) or Heartland. For TSYS, PreAuth and PreAuthCapture are not supported. For TSYS, the ISV must start with a Sale. The next step is to perform one or more Incremental Authorizations. Finally, perform one Partial Reversal so that the exact amount authorized is settled. The Sale is already captured, so the final amount will settle.

  • Support is added for a amount field. For TSYS, this field is informational only. It applies to Visa, Mastercard and Discover.

  • Support is added for Local Batch Inquiry.

  • Support is added for ReturnByRecordNo.

  • The following changes are made related to store and forward processing:
    • The SAF_ForwardAll operation will now recover if communication failures occur during the forwarding process. An error will be returned along with the number of transactions that have completed forwarding. A subsequent SAF_ForwardAll will pick up where the previous one left off.
    • If there are no transactions to forward, a SAF_ForwardAll operation will now return SUCCESS along with zero totals.
    • The SAF Totals now include a count of Uncaptured PreAuth requests. All PreAuth transactions should be captured prior to forwarding stored transactions. There is no way to be paid for a forwarded PreAuth that was not captured.
    • There is a purchase amount limit parameter set on PSCS and a purchase limit sent in from the POS. The smaller of the two is compared to the transaction purchase amount. If the transaction purchase amount is less than or equal to the smaller of the two limits, then the transaction can possibly be stored offline. Otherwise, the transaction will go online.
    • There is a maximum stored transaction limit set on PSCS and a stored transaction limit sent in from the POS. The smaller of the two is compared with the current number of stored transactions. If the addition of one more transaction would keep the number of stored transaction under or equal to the smaller of the two limits, then the transaction can possibly be stored offline. Otherwise, the transaction will go online.
