Introduction

uBreakiFix

uBreakiFix fixes electronic devices and opened their first brick and mortar location in Orlando, Florida in the summer of 2009. Six years later, uBreakiFix has repaired over 3 million devices, served more than 2.5 million loyal customers, and opened 300+ stores across the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. uBreakiFix has come a long way, but the one thing that will never change is their commitment to providing the best customer service in the tech repair industry.

Datacap Systems develops processor and hardware agnostic innovative integrated payment solutions for any Point of Sale, regardless of system architecture.  Industry-standard payment solutions from Datacap are utilized by hundreds of POS applications in an array of vertical markets.

Challenge

uBreakiFix has grown rapidly during their first six years in business. In order to maintain consistent growth patterns and meet emerging payment industry standards such as EMV chip cards, uBreakiFix needed a cross-border EMV certified payments solution that was easy to install and implement in their current and prospective brick and mortar locations. uBreakiFix turned to Datacap to deliver a payments solution that could meet their evolving payment needs.

Solution

uBreakiFix uses Datacap’s NETePay™ software paired with Verifone’s VX 805 PIN pad in the United States and Verifone’s VX 820 PIN pad in Canada.

Datacap’s NETePay software is ideal for uBreakiFix because it’s easy to install for its franchisees and it allows them to accept all major payment types including EMV in both the United States and Canada.

Using Datacap’s NETePay software keeps uBreakiFix out of PA-DSS scope and allows them to maintain a secure system in the United States and Canada while maintaining complete separation of sensitive cardholder information. Point-to-point encryption helps ensure all cardholder data remains encrypted and unusable by a third party until it reaches the processor’s decryption endpoint.

Results

“Datacap’s NETePay software allows us to accept EMV payments in Canada and in the United States. We bundle NETePay with our software to streamline the installation process for our franchisees. ” said Matthew Trapp, Product Manager at uBreakiFix.  He Continued, “Initially, we chose to use the VX 805 PIN pad with our applications in the US because it is a cost-effective EMV-enabled PIN pad.  However, we plan to migrate to signature capture PIN pads over the next few months. With Datacap’s one-to-many approach, we will be able to easily swap PIN pads without making any code changes.”
